hello my friends welcome back good morning my two and happy New Year is January 1st 2023 I'm so thankful that you're here cuz I've been thinking about the morning mine take away in 2023 has been spending some time praying about what we should start studying beginning of January 1st and what have landed on is it we're going to work our way through what is known as The Sermon on the Mount it is Jesus teaching directly to his disciples beginning in Matthew Chapter 5 through Matthew chapter 7 and is teaching about the Kingdom of Heaven what kingdom of heaven is like so I'm excited that we're going to dive into this together over the next month or so and friends I want to ask you here at the beginning of 2023 if you would consider making a commitment to become a financial partner with the morning mindset for the year 2023 at the very least and you could do so for as little as $2 a month $5 a month every small amounts it doesn't have to be a huge amount every little bit helps and every little bit
 freeze me up for my other business concerns so I can do more for the morning mindset and the different forms of media that we're putting out there for example we have digging deeper which is a podcast a sin only to those who are Financial Partners which has more in-depth spiritual teaching spiritual insights and thoughts from my own life you could receive that if your partner but also we're producing a parenting podcast called God-fearing kids and the parents raise them and my wife and I are going to be starting on the marriage podcast very soon perhaps others are are in the hopper for this new year would you become a partner to enable us to bring those things about okay let's Dive Into The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapter 5 verses 1 and 2 kind of set the stage for us Jesus was with his disciples and a crowd of people had gathered in their he's kind of up on the hillside and he said seeing the crowds he went up on the mountain and when he sat down his disciples came to him
 any open his mouth and taught them saying blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven now that's worth going to stop for today but let's get this scene right in our minds you see there is a big problem around the Jesus is up on the hillside but it seems like rather than this being a sermon which is what we've always called it he speaking just to his 12 since he opened his mouth and he taught them well who's them what could be the crowds that it mentions the first but it says he called his disciples to him or his disciples came to him so it seems like he's speaking directly to his disciples now I'm not going to make a big deal about this either way because the teaching is still just as powerful but what I want is to recognize in the context is it this is Jesus longest recorded sermon longest recorded teaching just without interruption and he teaching about what the Kingdom of Heaven is like
 which means he's teaching why he came to the planet what it is he's implementing and why he's doing so so as he begins that teaching he says blessed or blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven so lucky just getting right into the topic the kingdom of heaven and he starts out by saying those who are poor in spirit
 possessed talking about it that it's for them don't what does that mean for someone to be poor in spirit
 what I think he's talking about here is an attitude of humility blessed are those who know that they are creatures under the rain and Leadership of their creator and in Kingdom of Heaven terms we need to understand we are Kingdom citizens we are Servants of the Kingdom beneath the authority of our great King Jesus Christ and his father the god of Heaven and Earth you see friends we need to understand from the outset that blessing comes from being a servant in the Kingdom of Heaven
 so friends I often talk to my wife and my kids and I ask myself what can I do today to advance the kingdom work you see that helps me take my mind off of the citizenship I mean having some country or membership I may have in some individual church or individual organization instead I'm able to look at the grander scheme of things that I am called and I am appointed to be involved in the kingdom of heaven and is one whose poor in spirit
 I receive that blessing and I received the ability to be effective in the Kingdom you see poor in spirit means I'm humble I'm taking my place has a sermon and I'm letting my king direct my steps
 Lord Jesus I pray that as we start 2023 you would give us a kingdom of heaven mindset teaches how to humbly submit herself to your leadership and to begin viewing all of life through the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven Jesus make us your servants who Adventure Kingdom and Powerful ways in ways that are full of grace and full truth enable us to do so without expectation of what that's going to bring except that you were going to bring about your good work but teach us how to rest in you teach us how to be your kingdom servants under your good rank as our great king it's in your name we pray Jesus amen
